While reading my Freshman Year I really liked how she pointed out that students with similar interest are more easily able to connect with each other and I believe this is very true. I believe this because of my own experiences here at BU. The people I hang out with are people that I connect with ad have the same interests. I also liked how she spoke about there international student. I liked this because I am doing my CLUE project o different races, ethnicities and cultures so I enjoyed that she brought that up. I personally believe that it may be a little difficult at first for an international student to adjust as is it for any ne student at a school but, once you find a nitch and start reaching out to people and meeting no people they would feel right at home. I believe that because I personally know someone who is from Africa that came to BU, he said at first it was a bit of adjustment but in time he met and found friends like anyone else. In a Mind at Work I liked that first chapter where she spoke about waitressing, I was actually a waitress at a nursing home and I loved it. Although people may think waitressing is easy it does have its difficulties. It makes you need to have a good memory, you have to be a people person and learn how to interact with certain people. In a nursing home its not just about getting peoples food. I personally felt like that without the waitressing and kitchen staff these elderly people would not get what they needed when they needed. I also made a bond with the people of the nursing home and you really get to know these people on a personal level. Being a waitress at a nursing home gave me a sense of responsibility because these elderly people each have different types of food they can eat or things that they need and its very important to their health. As my time went on at the nursing home I got really close with the residents and when the time came where I had to leave because I had to attend college it was very difficult because I came to love these people. Being able to help these people was very self satisfying and rewarding.
